Mandalas

The circle has been one of culture's most powerful symbols of wholeness since time immemorial. Mandala is a Sanskrit word that means "whole world" or "healing circle". From Native American and Tibetan Sandpaintings to gothic rose window and hindu yantras, mandalas are used as symbol for meditation, protection and healing.

Why make a mandala? The mandala process can be calming and relaxing for the mind and body. The mandala is an aid to meditation and springs from an ancient eastern tradition, which Carl Jung brought to the west as a tool for self-discovery. Creating mandalas can be used as a meditation that will allow us to heal. We can gain insights by making the invisible visible and presenting reflections of our inner world.
